Under 8 GP Visit Card

We are happy to provide free care to children under the age of 8 who are registered with the practice.  Please register your child for the under 8 GP visit card on www.gpvisitcard.ie

Child Immunizations

Vaccines are free and immunisation is a simple, safe and effective way of protecting babies and children against certain diseases. The risks from having these diseases are far greater than the risk of any minor side effects from immunisation. 

It is important, that the childhood vaccines are given at the recommended time to provide children with maximum protection from vaccine preventable diseases.

Under the Maternity & Infant Care Scheme, care during pregnancy is provided free of charge to any person normally resident within Ireland. The scheme provides a number of scheduled visits with your Doctor and the Maternity Hospital.

After your initial consultation your Doctor will make arrangements for you with Cork University Maternity hospital for scans and shared care with your Obstetrician.

Care for other illnesses which you may have at this time, but which are not related to your pregnancy, is not covered by the Scheme and normal consultation fees will apply.

After the birth, the scheme provides a free baby check at 2 weeks and both mother and baby check at 6 weeks.

We can provide relevant advice and screening for various conditions in men including;

• Cardiovascular screening – i.e., blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol
• Mental Health
• Prostate Screening – examination and/or blood tests
• Male sexual problems
• Testicular problems

CERVICAL SMEAR

We are registered with the National Cancer Screening Service for the provision of Cervical Smear screening (smear tests).  These are available free of charge and are recommended for all women age 25 -45 every 3 years and for women 46-60 every 5 years. 

Please register on CERVICALCHECK.IE with your PPS number to avail of free Cervical screening or telephone 1800 454555.

Once you receive your invitation letter from Cervical check please contact the surgery to book an appointment with one of our doctors or nurses.

Private smears can also be arranged if you do not qualify under the HSE Cervical Smear Programme.

CONTRACEPTION

A full range of contraception options are offered at the surgery including Mirena, Jayden and Implanon insertion.

A free contraceptive service is now available to all women aged 17-30 as well as to Medical card and GP visit card holders aged 14-64.

FAMILY PLANNING AND FERTILITY

A full family planning service is available including preconception counselling, infertility advice and pregnancy testing.

ANTENATAL & POSTNATAL CARE

Under the HSE Mother and Infant scheme, antenatal visits are free to expectant mothers and include a free 2 week and 6-week check for mother and baby.  Shared care is combined with hospital Obstetricians at Cork University Maternity Hospital.   Antenatal classes are available via the HSE.

BREAST SCREENING

Mammograms are available through Breast check for women aged 50-64 free of charge every two years. Breast examinations and referrals can be arranged.

MENOPAUSE

Perimenopause, Menopause and Osteoporosis advice and treatment available.

Fees

It is the practice policy that all consultation fees are paid on the day of the visit. We accept payment by cash, card or cheque and are happy to take payment over the phone.

Patients with an outstanding balance are required to pay any outstanding fees in full prior to making any further appointments.

All of our Doctors are trained and experienced in Minor Surgery and can offer the following services:

CRYOTHERAPY OF WARTS & VERRUCA’S etc
LESION EXCISION
JOINT INJECTIONS
SUTURING OF MINOR WOUNDS

Our Doctors are registered with all major private health insurers for these procedures.

• CHOLESTEROL– It is important to fast for 12-14 hours prior to the test 
• INR/WARFARIN
• DIAGNOSTIC TESTING
• GTT – Glucose Tolerance test – it is essential to fast for 14 hours prior to this test
• VENISECTION– for patients with haemochromatosis.  A 30-minute appointment is required
